PROMOTING CITIZEN EMPOWERMENT AND INCLUSIVE DEMOCRACY

The project will support citizens to actively engage in local development planning, budgeting, implementation, and monitoring/evaluation based on principles of a rights-based approach, as well as on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI). In particular, marginalized groups i.e., women, Youth, Dalits, and Muslim will be represented and will be able to participate beyond “tokenism” in order to effectively influence local policies and programmes. The goal of such local good governance for the marginalized is for them to adequately address their rights, gender equality and social inclusion, and to access resources without barriers. To ensure civic participation in local governance process, the Action will support the formation, strengthening and mobilization of CSOs and their networks through awareness, interaction with LGs (Local Governments), information-sharing on the governance process, local resources and entitlements of the local governments earmarked to underprivileged community, and economic empowerment of Youth.
